Question about Toshiba Portege 7200CTe Notebook
I have a used Portege 7200 CTe which almost always shuts down after about 10 minutes when running on battery (no matter how much charge the computer says the batery has), and it never warns me before doing so. I don`t know if there is a problem with the computer or the battery, and I don`t know how to check. Also, I don't know how to find out exactly why the computer is shutting down.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I don't know for sure if this is your problem, but I do know that laptop batteries normally have a certain number of full charges before they tend to stop working well. I have seen your problem happen to several different laptops. One way to check this would be buy a new battery for it. If it works fine with that, the problem was the battery and you now have a replacement. If it isn't, however, you have spent the money on the battery and it hasn't done anything. So, that is up to you. That's the only thing I know of, tho. Or if you know someone else with the same laptop, try putting their battery in. Like I said, I don't know for sure if this is the issue, but I have seen it happen to several laptops and a new battery usually fixed it or at least figured out what the problem was. I don't know any way to figure out if that's your problem without buying the battery first, but there might be a way.
