Open Question

PV-200A/250x HI I have never used your service before. My PV died on me a few years ago and I want to revive it if possible. At the time I tried resetting it, replacing batteries and downloading the memory via the computer etc.. Soooo, now what? Is there anything I can do to revive my PV or at least capture the memory files from it? Thanks for your help JC

Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Good luck!

SOURCE: Microsoft Outlook data won't synch

In ActiveSybch there is an option of setting the priority of either the PC, the PDA or leaving the items unresolved. You can either change this of follow another route. With the device off the cradle delete the partnership WITHOUT deleting the partnership folder. Place the device on the cradle & let AS find the device & setup the partnership. Once setup remove the device & go to options & set all the required options. Replace the device & it should synchronise. If you still have problems please contact me directly through email.

May be from a short inside (loose screw), possibly a bad battery caused it, or maybe just failed. Try this site: They are just great for the Powershots that need reviving. That's all they deal with are these Canon Powershots and they are great all around. They have a service package on their site for your specific problem on the SD1300 and for $79, you get the repair, the service for the camera and shipping back included. Probably the best place out there for service on these models, they do very professional work on these cameras. Good luck with it.

No power at all from the unit? there is likely to be a fault in the switchmode power supply, which can be caused by any number of components, including leaky electrolytic capacitors. With any SMPS service, all the caps must be replaced together to ensure reliability, along with any IC regulators and diodes which may have been damaged by the faulty caps. If the PSU also features a chopper transformer, this may have an open-circuit winding. Either way, this would require workshop attention by a qualified technician with adequate equipment, and access to replacement parts.

Best option is to submit the unit to an authorised service centre, obtain a quote on the likely cost(s) involved, get a second opinion; then you can make a firm decision on whether it is economical to pursue the repair or not. Up to you.

A dead machine is not always just a simple blown fuse. The cost of the repair will depend on the extent of the original failure in the power supply and whether it has affected anything else in the unit.

The batteries have a shelf life. So they can die just from sitting and not being used.

What you can try is charge it and discharge it a 'few' times (few can mean 20-30 or more or less) it can revive the battery.

Replacement battery's are cheap $15 and up. So if you got these free it is worth putting one in.

Haven't used my m505 for several years. It won't charge/start. Can it be revived, perhaps w/ new internal battery?

If it won't take the charge it is definitly the battery. You can try to cycle it a few times by charging and discharging it a few tmes and it might revive. If not time to replace. Batteries can be $14 and up so google and look around for the best deal.

Toshiba R100 keyboard not working

I did the same some two years ago, with the R100 on. I switched everything off, dismounted the computer body (not the screen)up to the last screw, and dried that sweet coffee from everywhere where I found it. Mostly this was the keyboard and mouse. The motherboard is luckily protected by some plastic sheet.

Regarding the keyboard, after disconnecting it from the motherboard, I washed it completely under flowing water and then let it dry for several days. In the meantime, I used a USB one. Since then, I used the same keyboard for two years until now, when it died, apparently rather from some motherboard-related reason than water. So I think - you may get a new keyboard, but if youre lucky, you may as well revive this old one.
