Question about Samsung VP-D361 Mini DV Digital Camcorder

1 Answer

Image on screen or through viewfinder breaks down when recording

When recording, the image intermittently breaks down both on the screen and through the viewfinder. It changes to horizontal black and white strumming lines. I have discovered that if I give the video cam a gentle tap on the top the image returns but only short term. In a 5 minute recording session this can occur up to 10 times. Help! It's driving me crazy. Whenever I watch something back its filled with all these crazy little lines. I've had the cam for 6 months and it's had this problem for about 4 months. It's had very little use because of it.

Thanks, Lisa

The problem i m having with my camcorder is when i want to record film screen goes blank but i can watch my previous recorded videos

Look in the view finder when recording instead of the screen. if you see the image there then the unit is probably set to look through there. Many of the new units dont' have a full view finder to lens item they actually have a small lcd screen inside the view finder. Check your options for recording.

Also if the view finder is tilted you need to close that before usign the lcd.

The image will not appear simultaneously on the LCD

monitor and the viewfinder. It will appear in the

viewfinder when the LCD monitor is in the lock position,

and it will appear on the LCD monitor when fully

No image on LCD screen

It sounds like you're receiving partial information on the LCD screen and that the image sensor isn't sending information to the screen.

If you know the sensor is working by recording some video on an SD card and being able to view the recorded video on your PC, then there is a disconnect between the LCD and the image sensor.

If you are not recording video to your SD card and only get black images or no files, the image sensor is damaged.

If you are recording video, but no image appears on your LCD for internal viewing/playback, you can try a firmware update if one is available from, but this is a discontinued item so there's not much available for support.

Hope this helps!

Camcorder will playback ,but shows no image when recording

Can you make it go while attached to a Power Adapter ? and with battery OUT, try that first. IF it works, buy a new battery for that model. Batteries can go so flat they cannot be charged, without special equipment, and even then they may not resurrect. funnily enough, leaving things without current running through them, or powering up,every few weeks, etc, can often cause a problem, strange huh?

Optic viewer blurred image

Not much that you can do with that, try adjusting the small focus lever on the underside of the viewfinder, as this might fix the blurred image, your lucky that you didn't, break something on the camera.

Red Screen

Since this is being recorded it is not a problem with the monitor or viewfinder. I believe that it is a problem with the imaging chip or the circuitry immediately after the image block. It actually sounds like a bad solder joint. If you are very good with tools and soldering, have magnifying glasses and a steady hand, you should be able to repair this. If you are not familiar with the repair of camcorders (and there are many tiny pieces to keep track of) there is probably little you can do to solve this problem. If you go to this website for the price of shipping you can get a free estimate or you can get an estimate online at I would think that the cost to repair this should be reasonable. Good luck.
