I also am having problems that just started after 2 good trouble free years of use. What it will do is record then on playback it will pause start pause and pixelate which is very frustrating.It only records on DVD+ but wont recognize maxell or memorex it only seems to like Dataware brand.I tried using an expensive dvd cleaning disc but it says no disc so I cant even use the disc.I took the unit apart to clean it and it appears to have a regular pc dvdrw drive same 5 volt power and all can I just install a pc recorder will it work? Thanks

try cleaning the lens of your dvd if that does not work have a tech look at your dvd it could be having a problem in the recording circuit which is controlled by a chip.good luck
