I have a Hitachi Ultravision TV that lost all power tonight not long after turning it on. It made a loud noise through the speakers before it went black. It then starting clicking, and the red power light starts blinking in time to the clicking coming from the back of the set. I have had the convergence problems with this set and fixed it (with the help of a friend who solders electronics), and it has worked flawlessly for about 2 years since doing it. I did smell an electrical smell after it happened, so I'm guessing something burned up. Any help on this? Great timing, but the way. The washer just started leaking, too.

Are these general problems for the set, or specific to this problem? I replaced the STK394's about 2 years ago, and remember checking some of the resistors, and they were fine. I'm about to the point of just getting a new TV, but want to make sure I can't fix this one first if it is worthwhile.

I think I can do this, since I replaced the STK's a couple of years ago. Thanks for the information. Is there a diagram that shows the IC601, C603, I601 and Qn05's? Or are they marked on the board? Same for the RK42. Seems like I checked the RK42 last time, but it has been 2 years.
Check IC601, C603 for leakage, I601 and vertical pulse detector QN05
for poor convergence check RK42 for open circuit.

yes the convergence ic is a common problem with the sets that are about 4 years old http://home.earthlink.net/~oleg.filippov/ConvergenceFix.htm http://cmpalmer.blogspot.com/2006/11/fixing-my-own-tv-part-ii.html
