How do you gain access to the "used ink tank" on the Canon i560. I have tried the reset procedure for 5 Orange, 1 green flash as well as removing the print head.
How to access the "used ink tank" for the next step is not obvious to me.
Splain it like you're talking to a 67 year- old cause you are.
Thanks

- If it is 5 Orange flashes and one green- this sissy solution will not work! Canon Sez:
Thank you for writing to Canon technical support. We value you as a Canon customer and appreciate the opportunity to assist you. We sincerely regret the light on your i560 printer continues to flash five times.
When the Power light alternates between orange and green, the printer was not able to initialize successfully. Five orange flashes indicates the print head is not recognized, but does not mean the print head is the cause.
For troubleshooting purposes, please perform and confirm the following:
1. Open and close the print head lock lever. There is no need to remove the print head.
2. Make sure all ink cartridges are seated properly and evenly in the printer.
3. Isolate the printer by powering off and disconnecting it from the computer.
4. Check carefully for any objects or other material that may be inside the printer or sheet feeder.
5. After waiting about thirty seconds, plug the printer in, power on and see whether the printer initializes properly with a steady green POWER light.
If the error continues, service regrettably appears necessary.
We would like to let you know about the Canon Loyalty Program. It is designed to assist customer's that have a Canon product that is no longer under warranty and requires service or parts, or for those situations where the printer is not compatible with a new computer or operating system. This program provides for a one-time purchase of a new Canon printer at a discounted price. To aid in getting up and running quickly, free next business day shipping is also provided if the order is completed by 12:30 PM Eastern Time.
Well Fay after much research, the best answers I've seen actually came from other experts on this website. The link below will take you to another Fixya page with several, very good solutions to the same problem you have. My personal favorite was soaking up waste ink from the pad with kleenex or some other absorbent material as you won't need to take apart your machine. You merely remove the ink cartridges and carriage to gain access to the pad/sponge that Canon calls it's waste tank. I do wish you well and hope you come back to let me know if you were able to fix your machine. Greg Fixya Waste Tank Solution for Canon Printers

- The solution I provided was merely a "work around" for the error code you got. The only real solution is to repair the waste ink pad by replacing it which Canon recommends doing only a an authorized repair center. Sometimes, you can remove the pad (it's not a tank) and wash it out and allow it to dry. It's obvious to me the reply you got from Canon in that they want to sell you another printer. I'm sorry you feel my answer didn't solve your problem and I guess we'll just have to disagree whether it was worthy of the poor rating you gave. Good luck and I wish you well. Greg
