Went too close to a shoe, power brush grabbed a shoelace and jammed.
Now it doesn't run.
Power light goes on and off when button on wand is pressed—but no action.

Shoelace removed immediately.
This Miele is a sophisticated animal—it's not like an upright Hoover where the belt is easily accessible.
I took off the cover and looked. Unless it has gear drive there's gotta be a belt to turn the brush. But the works are well covered—can't see any belt. It has a six-inch fluorescent bulb, some electronic parts, springs, wires exposed.
Although the light on the power head goes on and off no motor runs. Of course with no motor the brush doesn't run.
Anyone familiar with Miele power heads?

bbtoast is RIGHT! The vacuum is only five months old and I have the manuals. Page 13 of the Operating Instructions for the Powerbrush includes a FAQ: Why is the Multifunction indicator red?
Answer: Block protection has been activated because the brush is blocked.
Solution: Remove the blocking item, then, with the machine unplugged, PRESS THE MULTIFUNCTION INDICATOR.
This is exactly what bbtoast suggested, and it worked. So in my opinion, he's a guru! And a note to those who run FixYa: Your writing tips are right on!
Without looking at your exact problem with my eyes, I believe that it may be as simple as Unplugging the unit, then try to grab the shoelace, if it is still visible, you may need needle-nose pliers, and then try to unwind the shoelace. It may be jamming the brush!
It sounds like what happened to my wife recently! I was able to remove the lace, and was back in business! On my unit, (Kenmore brand), I had to remove the cover of the head. While I was in there, I replaced the agitator brush belt. Good Luck!

Was there any debris from the laces inside? What did you try?

Do you currently have the operating manual handy? If not, I have one here. I need to be sure that you have all of the bases covered!

With your vacuum unplugged, please try to press the Multifunction Indicator. Then plug the vacuum in, then see if that helps!
If you appreciate my help, you could change my rating to HELPFUL, thank you.
Let me know if this helps.

Hi Clyde,
Before you start, unplug the vacuum from the wall socket.
First remove all the shoe laces from the beater brush. Then make sure the belt in installed correctly. If this doesn't correct the problem, open the unit and find any fuses that it may have and replace any that are blown. That sould correct your problem. It sure seems that vacuums get hungry for more than dirt at times. lol Good Luck
