You should be receiving this message after Vista is attempting to load. On newer computers, the Recovery and reinstall software is installed on another logical disk in your laptop. When you boot your PC from a cold-boot (meaning power has been off for at least 25 seconds) press F8 or F12 (not all pcs use same keys) hold the key for 2 seconds to get to the Advanced boot options. You must do this fairly quick or Vista will try to load. Once here you can choice from different options. The first thing I would try is "Last Known Good Configuration". Just use arrow keys to select it and press enter. If this doesn't correct your problem, then go back to the same menu and look for the option for the Recover Utility.

No audio output device is installed, when i go to device manager i cant see sound option anywhere i then tried installing the Conexant hd sound driver from hp site it worked but only for about 15/20 min when i reboot the system hey presto sounds back again but then same thing 15/20min later its gone. ive even tried recovery manager to restore the sound driver to its previous state when it was first purchased and i got the message " Driver Installation Failed: Could not find the MEDIA device for the driver" Somebody out there must know how to sort this if you do i will be in your debt Kuv
