My Tungsten E Pocket PC shuts itself off as soon as the software starts to open. I performed a hard reset, and it will stay on until I answer the ''Erase all data'' question. I don't think it is the battery. Do you think it could be the software?

- I bought it used, so I would guess 5 years at the most.
I did get the palmOS to update with HotSync. It will boot into the main menu screen now, but it is still shutting itself off. I am leaning toward a battery issue.

Thank you for your response. My wife had the same as yours ... she had the aux power supply as well. Eventually, hers would not run at all without the aux battery and finally, that battery went as well.
I called the company and they said it was probably the battery and it was not repairable at the consumer level, but they would be glad to do it for a fee of about $125.00 + shipping.
We abandoned all hope and she bought a 'smart phone'. When her Tungsten E entered this "status" it became fair game for me to investigate. I removed the back (itty ***** "Torx" "screw driver" required. The little motor that vibrates the device fell out immediately. I found the battery is a soft battery and it was plugged in with a simple plug. I found the battery for about $20.00. Having satisfied my courisity, I gave the whole thing to my brother who put it back together and he is still using it.

My Palm Tungsten T powers on, but was frozen on the address screen. The screen didn't respond to any touches. I hit the reset and it went to the date and time set up screen, but that was also frozen. I don't know what to do next - any thoughts?
