Make sure you have the right belt because there are 2 belts for the machines if your motor mounts to the tub or if it mounts to the bottom of the washer and make sure the belt is on the tensioner

Belt off how do you put it on?

This washer does not run by belt drive, it has a direct inverted drive motor with a motor coupler between the motor and the transmission, if you need assistance on how to replace the motor coupler please comment back. If you can see a belt under the washer than you have listed the wrong model as your washer.

Tighten the belt on an Amana washer?

The belt should already be pretty tight after wrapping around the barrel and the motor pulley. The belt may be worn and should be inspected and probably replaced.
To prevent similar problems in the future I suggest you be aware of how big of a load you put in the washer.

How to put on a new belt for Amana washer model #LWA50AW

I just did this today. You have to remove the motor. first start by removing the two hoses then remove the four 1/2 inch bolts that hold the motor/pump assembly. the wires are clippes to a bracket, pry that off removr the whole motor assemly with the bracket by pushing on the tub to manipulate it out. Then remove the three #25 torx screws that hold the pump to motor, remove the pump then route the belt onto the pulley around the inside pump mount put the motor back on the reinstall it the way you took it off. its not that bad (for the first time ever working on a wash machine). I hope you dont have the problem I do, the belt slips in the spin mode - that is probably why the belt failed in the first place I am still trying to find a solution to that. if you just have a failed belt, you will be just fine.

Put The Belt On The Motor First Then Put What You Can Get Of The Belt On The Other Pulley And Turn It. It Will Give You The Anchorage Needed To Put The Belt Back In Position. If This Doesn't Help Let Me Know And I Will Further Assist You.
