monitor will not stay on. I can turn the monitor off and then back on and my desktop pops up for 3 or 4 seconds before the screen goes black again. Also, on occasion the monitor will continuesly flsh on annd off. when it does this I have to unplug the monitor multiple times to get ti to work again, simply pressing the power button on the monitor does nothing when this problem occurs. Im sure I have a virus somewhere but I have run two different virus programs and they have found nothing. I also just discovered that my disck drive refuses to open. Any help wouls be greatly appreciated. thanks.
I'm afraid that most probably your monitor is failing. Try to connect it to a different PC and see if it's still blanking. I've had few cases of dell monitors dying in similar manner to yours. In all cases it was caused by blown capacitors on the logic board in the monitor. (overheating/poor quality components). Once replaced, the monitors were back to life and are still in service today. Of course unless you like to tinker with electronics this is probably not worth repairing as the monitors are fairly cheap these days. Hope this helps, Raf

I cant get my Toshiba Equium to work off the mains. I have had it on charge over night to try and boost the battery but it went into hiberate and wont restart or work. Is there a switch that I have turned off by accident under the laptop?
