How do i repair the cassette player on my crosley CR248 songwriter CD recorder?

Generally when tapes spill out, its due to: A a belt that is off or loose. And B: a pinch roller that is off or worn.

My Crosley CR246 makes a humming noise when place on Phono. The noise continues while turntable spins and adjusts with the volume button.

Remove the cartridge head shell from the arm and reinsert it. You must be having a contact problem with the cartridge. ( loose connection )

I can not get my Crosley CR248 Songwriter to Finalize when I try to transfer from cassette to cd. It keeps showing me FAIL....

I don't know this particular machine but here are some general comments.
Most CD recorders need you to press (and sometimes hold) the record button followed by the play button before tehy actually record anything (if you don't press the play button you will still hear sound via headphones etc. but no recording file will be created)
Does it record from vinyl records okay or is it just cassettes?
Are you using the correct sort of CD?
We use a Denon CD recorder and it only works with AUDIO CDs - computer data CDs or CDRWs will not work in it. Even if the Crossley will accept computer CDs it may require a particular format either +ve or -ve (labelled CDR+ or CDR-) to be compatible. Once you have tried finalising a disk and it has failed you cannot use the same disk again.

My brandnew Songwriter is not playing records properly. When a quarter is placed on the tone arm, it plays fine. Is there an adjustment I can make??? Marilyn
I didn't see the tone arm balance adjustment in the user manual, however that is what needs to be done. At the rear of item #39, on page 10, is there a dial with numbers from 0 to 4 or 5? If so, set the dial to "0" to see if the tone arm will "balance" (like a see saw) If not, the dial assembly (which is a weight) needs to be slid either forward or backwards to achieve balance. After balancing, turn the dial to a number higher than 0 to increase tracking force..keep increasing the tracking force until it stops skipping, but no more than necessairy. To much force causes wear/damage to albums. If there is no tracking force adjustment on the tone arm, I would suggest contacting Crosley @
Hope this helps.

Crosley Radio CR246 CD door will not open

Try checking these:

- the CD door motor rubber drive belt (if there is one), it could be either loosened or broken, if so, it needs to be replaced

- the door open/closed sensor switches (contacts), they could be oxydized or damaged, they are located somewhere under the CD tray, possibly at the front end of the unit (depends on brand and model), you need to clean these with some fine sandpaper

It could be something else like the door motor driver IC, the power supply for the motor, a bad capacitor in the motor drive section, a loose connection or a broken wire somewhere, but hopefully, it's just a bad rubber belt or a dirty contact.
