Re: acer has no power

If it only 6 month sold send it back to the store you brought it from as you should have a 1 year warranty with it. The other thing is when you switch the computer on does the power light come on and nothing happens? If so then the CPU could be out of it's socket slightly which this will have nothing to do with the power supply.

I suggest if you have had it from new send it back to the store if you purchased second hand open the cover detach the CPU fan and lift the release lever and push down on the CPU and close the release lever then replace the CPU fan and cover then try switching on.

Hope this helps you
Cheers J

Just brought new memory for my acer aspire sa90 desktop, now my computer doesn't seem to turn on

i assume computer was starting correctly before? this is older computer and it is using sdram memory, locket on them sometime do not clip in correctly.

1. switch off computer
2. remove power cord
3. remove side wall
4. remove sdram
5. check sdram orientation and type, if they correctly align with registering notches
6. release lockets to max, (outward from slot)
7. re-insert correctly oriented sdram till lockets close into sdram stick (you may give them bit "help" to close in position)
8. re-connect power
9. start computer

if copmuter start normally, that meant tha tyou fixed the problem, if not, switch computer off and remove power cable, check motherboard power cable insertion, and repower again.

if computer start, lose cable was the problem.

if computer still do not start, remove new memory and re-nstall old one, if computer start, new memory will be a culprit.

if computer no fan "jig" and no light blink, remove all power supply cables from motherboard and connect in it's place new power supply, to exclude power supply problem.

if computer start with new power supply, old power supply will be the problem,

if computer do not start, and no joy with checking, but fan is running, including on the processor, this will indicate either, motherboard or processor died... if that is the case further testing will be required to determine which is exact cause. as in home situation there are usually no motherboard testing equipment, you need to go to more difficult path of changing the processor, checking video and haveing second computer on which you can test all of that...

replacement board for that processor on ebay cost from about $0.99 plus postage. if you need any further advice, please re-post adn if i am on line today, i will provide you with further procedure how to test your video, motherboard and processor.

if you find my advice useful, please do not hesitate to leave your comment and vote 4 for me, thanx!

Power but no display acer aspire L100

Try these sequence(you need another one good computer to test and interchange component and you will find out the problem):
- check your RAM, if you use two RAM start computer using one and interchange it to find out which one is bad
- if your RAM OK, check your VGA
- if your RAM and VGA OK, try to check your power supply, sometimes defective PS cannot supply sufficient power to all component to work.

hope this will help you.

Beeps 2 times & a warbling noise when trying to boot up - unplugging power lead & pressing ON/Off button & reconnecting power lead starts up OK - but it can be OK for several days & then repeats the p

The Cause of Problem:

The Power Buttons electrical circle sometimes just braked it by one of sensors and the result is the 2 beeps and Power Supply is in protected mode error.

The whole computer is turn off but the power button is turn on and this is the nub of the matter. Because if you want turn on the computer you can't because already turn on but just the Power button and you can't do anything.

The solution:
You need just change the Power Supply and don't do anything just the power cable put into the Power Supply after turn off computer.
Finaly change back the Power Supply.

Computer wont turn on or boot

what size power supply are you using, if its under 400 watts it may just be under powered. Large video cards 512mb and over take a lot of power. Try removing the video card and see if you can get the pc to power up, hopefully you have on board video.

How did you blow the cpu_fan connector, did you short it out? I would first supect the power supply is under rated, second a blown power supply, or mother board.

Acer Aspire desktop computer that won't turn on.

Since you have other computers available you may want to try swapping out a power suplly to see if that cures this computer. You just have to make sure of two things. The replacement power supply is the same or greater wattage and that it has the right connectors (newer computers made changes to the connectors).

Also make sure that you did not accidentally press the on/off switch on the back of the power supply. I did this once and felt kind of silly. Not all power supplies will have that switch, but a lot do.
Let us know what you find.

Computer won't start normaly

This is most likely do to a bad stick of RAM.
Try taking out all but one stick of ram and try booting. If it still doesn't boot try changing the stick out with another one you pulled (might be the stick you left in that is the problem)

In the case that it is bad RAM go to your local computer shop and get some new RAM for the computer or check if Gateway will replace the RAM.

If there is any display that comes on the monitor such as a 2 digit code try searching that or posting here with the code.
