My shower (fiberglass) drain is leaking and needs to be replaced. I can pop off the drain cover to reveal a pvc collar that is glued down and unmoveable. I have ripped the ceiling open underneath the shower and can see light coming through brightly in the upstairs drain. I don't know how to remove the old pvc drain. Any suggestions? Thanks, Susan
where is the leak is it the drain collar or pipe coming down or shower pan(floor) pvc is glued into place u have to cut it out-- but before u do it may be possible to repair leak
There are a few different drain styles available. If you pop the drain cover off of the shower, does it look like a brass ring pressed up against a rubber boot? If this is the case, that brass ring will have to unscrew first. if this is not the case, There will be a large nut on the underside of your shower that holds the drain in place. Often times, a helper is very beneficial to hold the top part of the drain assembly in place while the other person unscrews the bottom portion. You may say a few choice words during the process, as sometimes an older drain becomes hard to unscrew. There is a special tool for removing the drain, and it is relatively inexpensive. If the pvc is glued into the drain, a section of pipe will have to be cut away to get the tool around the strainer nut. Plan on replacing the trap and strainer. If it is pvc, you will need a coupling, trap, plumbers putty to go around the strainer where it meets the base of the shower, a new strainer, and possibly a couple street 45's and a couple of 45's. Don't forget the glue, primer, and a short piece of pipe.

the setup has a red circular plastic ring that is threaded on the handle stem. It seems locked into place. I'm concerned it will break and I have to redo the whole install. How can it be adjusted to allow more hot water?

I have a sliding shower door in my bath but unfortunately, I do not know the manufacturer of it. It's about 14 years old and the bottom plastic part that is attached to the bottom of the door has broken off. I cannot find the part anywhere. All the parts that I have viewed on line are nothing like the part that I need and I really can't explain the shape of it other than it's a narrow plastic piece (about an inch long) with the inside being raised. Do you know where I may find the part?
