I have a ryobi RLT30CES for about 12-14 months and over the weekend the head just fell off and does not reconnect for any longer than 30 seconds. Has anyone else experienced this ? If I use the Pro cut II head this works perfectly but when I replace it with the ordinary head it takes ages to re-attach and spins off after a few seconds.

You mentioned this in your answer here: http://www.fixya.com/support/t2026872-shaft_ryobi_bc30_weed_wacker_getting_hot How does this happen and how can two square ends actually rotate together unless there is a piece connecting them? My Ryobi string trimmer just started not working. I suspect it is in the connection between the upper and lower shafts because the other attachment (edger) will also not work. The motor runs and looking inside at just the upper piece, I can see the rod rotating at high speed. Can you suggest some solutions?
