i''m having a similar problem. mines straight out of the box.. removed the standard packaging tape. plugged it into the power supply & turned it on via the on/off switch.. printer power ups, and then makes a god aweful grinding noise.. lcd screen displays Error code 6000 & the Alarm light flashes.. Tried turning it on & off about 20 times.. looked inside & out and there doesn't appear to be anything jammed in a roller etc.... Any ideas??

    error 5700

  • jan1956 Nov 29, 2008

The whole stack of paper began feeding in when I was printing. I pulled it back out and since then it only gives me "Error 5700." I unplugged, replugged, rebooted. Nothing has changed.

I have a Canon Pixma iP6000D and I had similar problems right out of the box also. When I investigated, i found a slotted plastic piece with a spring under it that the bottom tray slides into had been pushed out and up into the paper feed mechanism. I just pulled it back down into place and all was well.

I should have added, I think its terrible engineering and unacceptable. I won't buy Canon printers again either. I hope this helps someone.

What is error code 5700?

Hi,

I have seen this error a few times through the use of our inklink products.

The error 5700 is as follows:
This error takes place when feeding paper
from the ASF after an error occurred in the
ASF cam sensor.

Make sure that there is no paper jammed in the printer and nothing is blocking the paper path.

Error 5700 is showing up on my printers display and i cant get rid of it so it won't let me print, scan, fax or photocopy. I've turned it off and on, cleaned it out but still no luck

Error 5700 is a paper feed or paper sensor malfunction error: make extra sure that you do not have any jammed piece of papers in your paper feed/roller mechanism.

If you tried turning if off and UNPLUG from AC main for a few minutes and it has not reset the printer, try the 'soft' reset by holding the ON/OFF switch down for say 5 seconds after the screen goes blank, then release the ON/OFF button and let stand for a couple minutes before powering up again.

If it does not work, call the Canon Help desk for further assistance!

Good luck!

Our printer wil not PRINT New Toner installed today No paper jam What is the problem

Hi,

Before we proceed, kindly provide few more details :-

1. Is there any error message on the display?
2. Any LED's blinking?
3. How old the printer is?
4. Do you used a refilled or original cartridge?

Unplug the printer for few minutes, say 15 minutes and then turn it ON. Re seated the cartridge to make sure that it is properly seated.

Let me know,once done.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

Error Message on screen

Hi,

Check two things

1. Ink in your catridge

2. Check whether the catridge has been proprely inserted because some movement to the printer may cause the catridge postion to be misplaced

Hope your problem got solved

Error 5700 on lcd screen tried turning it on and off problems not resolved, its only 6months old

5700 is an error in the paper feeder unit, could be a broken gear, or sensor. The only repair is to replace the sheet feed unit. Canon gives a one year warranty, should be repaired at no charge to you. 1800-OKCanon

5700 in mp520

Canon is fairly standard with their error codes no matter the model. Error Code 5700 basically means the paper sensor is not working properly. If this is the case then you will need to buy another printer. Most repair shops will charge more to fix the old one then you would spend on a new one. Sorry for the bad news. Although, I would strongly suggest you contact Canon Tech Support to validate this information. You can reach them at the number below between 8AM and 12 Midnight EST. Good Luck!

PRINTER FAULT

Hi,
I,m not 100% sure on this. But A 5700 error on canon printers.
Would mean that the paper sensor has failed, or is not working.
Hope this Helps.
