Pioneer CDJ-800 Vinyl Mode Broken

My CDJ-800 functions perfectly for everything except the Vinyl mode. It seems the platter mechanism thinks it's constantly being depressed, so it's as if I were holding my finger on the platter. I've tried taking the platter apart and fidgeting with the mechanism a little, but to no avail. Any suggestions?

I have the similar problem, everything works just fine but the CD won't play in the VINLY modus, unfortunatly my cdj800 doesn't have any warranty anymore, the Pioneer Pro dealer is very expensive, does anyone have a cheaper solution?

    I would really appriciate it!

    thank you very much advance

Yeah, I have a the same problem.

Using my other CDJ-800 I have narrowed down the fault to the DWG1564 board (the board with the track display and tempo etc on it)

So investigate this board now, bought a service manual, I post the fault when I find it. Don't what (switch) it could possibly be, as it has tack switch's on the board.

Hi jazzology9 thank your very much for your response.

Strangly enough the problem disappeared by itself on my CDJ800. But I'm still very curious what the real problem could be / is. So please keep me posted!

Same thing here too. The Vinyl mode stops the player and when I press it out of Vinyl mode, it works fine. What is causing this problem? I took it apart and cleaned the insides, which were gross, I think someone spilled something on it. :-(
Still, I cleaned the track and put it together and still it doesn't work? Might be time to take it to the shop.

I found some videos online that lead me to believe that the sensors under the platter need to be adjusted. The video was in Spanish, so not much help here, though it did solve the problem there.

This is a common issue. There is a faulty switch on the CDJ800s, which needs to be replaced. Unfortunately, this is not an easy fix, and will need to be serviced by a professional.

If your unit is under warranty, I suggest sending it off to Pioneer for repair. If you cannot find anyone locally, our company offers nationwide service.

My Pioneer CDJ 800 MK 2 - will not play in the vinyl mode, the cue button is flashing _ if i take it out of vinyl mode it will play fine , do i need to reset it?

Does the unit play in vinyl mode if you turn the platter by hand?. If this the case the commom fault in the "sheet switch" which is under the platter and sensors the pressure when you press the platter.

The "sheet switch" and it is a circular plastic "sandwich" of multiple contacts and when constant pressure is put on it (i.e something is sat on it for a long time), it tends to stick together giving the effect you are pressing it when you're not.
The part will cost you about £30.00 + fitting - unless you are confident enough to do it yourself

email me if you would like to order one.

My jog wheel sticks / doesn't glide like it should...

I had the exact same problem. I was working a party when some drunk ******* spilled some beer in my coffin case, thus getting into the jog wheel and cue button. I continued to work with it for a few months but got pretty fed up and brought it to a pio dealer. They fixed it up quick and cheap, now it glides like my other mk3s. I'd say bring it in a get a quick quote.

Pioneer cdj 800 mk2 playing mp3s, jogwheel & screen dont work

More than likely the contact pad (aka Membrane pad) is probably damaged... or the flat cable which connects to the main processor, might be loose, or damaged.

You'll need to get this professionally checked out by a qualified technician. It's not an easy fix.

Spilled beer on plater Pioneer CDJ-800MK2

Well, the problem is that you spilled beer on your platter.

More than likely the beer dried up, and now it's all sticky.

Professional cleaning is highly suggested.

CD Mode does not react in the same manner as as Vinyl mode when you try to back spin. At the very least, you will only be able to go back a few bars. It's mainly used to set the Cue properly.

If you want it to back spin, you'll have to use the Vinyl mode.

Error on the vinyl mode will let me cue but not play

More than likely you have a bad switch, although this is not something that you could service yourself. I would suggest taking it to a service center in your area. Make sure they are Pioneer authorized, and know what a CDJ800 unit is!

Cdj 800 locking up on vinyl

There are very small wheels underneath the jog wheel, and these wheels are sitting on a plastic assembly, which has a tendency to break over time. More than likely, you'll have to have this repaired by an authorized service technician.

More than likely the touch/sensor pad underneath the platter is bad. This can only be replaced by a professional.
