I have a ge spacemaker XL1400. It was manufacture in 1999, It just stopped heating up food. Still has power but when I try to heat something up it makes an odd plastic smell but doen't heat food up. The smell is almost like a melting plastic smell but not super strong. Is the microwave junk or can it be easily fixed?

it sounds to me like the magnetron is shot in it. this is the part that creates the heat. not worth repairing on a 10 year old unit. Sorry.
