Question about GE JGBP26 Gas Kitchen Range

1 Answer

My ge gas range will not heat up

My oven will not ingnit or heat up but my broiler and top burner work fine. When I turn on to bake I hear a relay click but the ignitor does not glow.

How can I verify this is a ignitor problem and where can I find a replace part with remove and replace instructions?

Re: My ge gas range will not heat up

Inspect the ignitor for a crack or break in the continuity of a ceramic ignitor. If you can't visually discern a failure, then a multi-meter is need to check for resistance through the ignitor.

Our GE profile oven model JGsp31wet1ww oven will not heat up. When i set the oven to say 400 degrees, it just stays at 100 and never heats up. The broiler seems to work fine and the stove top gas burners...

pull out the racks and remove the bottom floor of the oven, turn it on bake,if the ignitor doesn't glow most likely it's bad,if it does glow and it doesn't ignite within 40 to 60 seconds the ignitor is bad.even though it glows doesn't mean it's good,it works by takes 3.2 amps.for a flat ignitor to open the gas valve and 2.5 amps for a round ignitor to open the gas valve.

Oven won't heat, glow/igniter lights but no flame. Broiler will ingnite All burners work, Probable cause?

if you can hear gas when turned on then its likely to be a faulty/dirty burner. No gas flow then its the thermostat or dependant on model a faulty gas relay/valve

Oven produces soot when running, broiler ok, stove top ok

Al, you need to seat the needle valve on the bake. Remove the bottom drawer, right below the bake burner you will see the nut just below the air shutter adjustment. Turn this nut clockwise a few times, it might seem hard but just do it. Then try the bake again, you should have a nice bluel flame. Tenbears.

Oven will not heat up.

eerb, most likley your ignitor failed. When you turn the oven on to bake you should hear a relay click on the electronic control (clock). You can do a couple of things here. If you have a ohmmeter the ignitor should ohm out at between 50 and 150 ohms. You can physically swap out the bake and broil ignitors to see if the ignitor comes on in bake. Or you can swap the bake and broil wires on the board. They should be marked BA and BR. This way when you turn on bake, the broil ignitor should glow and verify you have power going to it. Carefull when testing, be sure to kill power to the range before any changes. back
