First run the software if you have it, if not you will need to contact Compaq, without the compaq drivers which are not listed for download directly it will not function correctly

Kathy, There are two items that you have. A wireless mouse and a sensor for it. The sensor is attached to the PC while the mouse stays with you. And of course you must have received a CD with the drivers in it. Insert the CD in the drive and let auto read and install the drivers. Once done, then insert the sensor and allow the Windows to detect and load the drivers. After that happens then only you would be able to use your mouse. Please follow these steps.

Would like advise on how to install a wireless mouse on a laptop

Wireless mice come with a USB dongle and a wireless mouse. Install batteries in the mouse and plug in the USB dongle into 1 of your USB ports on your laptop while in Windows. Windows will detect the mouse and automatically install the software needed to communicate with the mouse. If Windows doesn't install this device automatically, try installing the drivers included on the driver CD.

How to connect a dynex wireless optical mouse w/my windows xp?

Hi, connecting the Dynex Wireless Optical Mouse is easy. First, you need to install the driver for the mouse. It should have come packaged with the mouse, on the CD-ROM. If you don't have the CD-ROM you can download the driver from the website and install it:

http://www.dynexproducts.com/productSearch.html?query=wireless+optical+mouse&mainSearchButton=

Scroll down to "Dynex Wireless Optical Mouse" and click "English" next to "Driver:" to download it, then unzip it and install it.

Once you've installed the driver, all you have to do is put the two AA batteries in the mouse, flip the switch on the bottom to On, and insert the USB receiver into your computer. Your mouse should be usable right away!

Brookstone wireless mouse

Connect your wireless mouse while your wired one is in the computer. Now, if there were any CDs that came with your mouse then put them in your CD reader and go through the installation process. If there were no CDs, then search online and find a driver the suits your mouse. Download it and install it.
Do not unplug your old mouse while installing the new one. You need something to use while you can't use the new one :P

I have a dynex wireless optical mouse but my laptop will not recognise it

Have you installed the driver for the mouse? Did you install it before actually attaching the mouse's USB receiver? The driver should be installed first. You can download it here:

http://www.dynexproducts.com/productSearch.html?query=wireless+optical+mouse&mainSearchButton=

Scroll down to "Dynex Wireless Optical Mouse" and click on "English" next to "Driver:" in order to download it.

If you've already installed the driver and your computer still won't recognize the mouse, press the Connect button on the receiver, wait for the light to flash, and then press the Connect button on the mouse. The light should stop flashing and the mouse should be ready to use.

INSTALLING THE MOUSE

STEP 1 - Battery Installation:
The first step in installing your Wireless Wheel Mouse is to install the batteries.
1 - Locate the two AAA sized 1.5 Volt batteries that came in your Wireless Wheel Mouse package.
2 - Remove the battery compartment cover located on top of your mouse by pressing the cover release button and sliding the cover backwards.
3 - Install the two batteries into the compartment paying close attention to proper polarities.
4 - Replace the battery compartment cover.

STEP 2 - Connecting the Receiver:
If you are connecting the mouse to a notebook that has an onboard pointing device or if you are using a keyboard with an onboard pointing device, you may need to
disable that device before installing and using the mouse.

Wireless mouse

With USB wireless mice, you plug in the USB wireless adapter, and turn on the mouse. Windows XP should automatically install the software, if not, install the software on the disk that the mouse came with (if there is one). If there isn't a disk, Windows XP will most likely install the drivers automatically. Press the connect button on both the mouse, and the USB adapter, and it should all work. Good Luck
