My computer is an old Gateway. I have an ...
My computer is an old Gateway. I have an internet connection on a laptop using vista and a router. I want to use the router to connect to the old Gateway but it says to put in the Novel Netware cd and I don't have one. I downloaded the files that I needed onto my laptop and burned them to disk but the old 98 computer isn't recognizing the files on the disk. The files are able to be viewed by other computers using xp. Is there a special way to format the files to work on my windows 98?

I doubt that you are using Novel software. Does your 98 computer have an RJ45 connector on it anywhere? That is where you want to connect your router. If you do not have an Ethernet card in the computer then you will probably have a very difficult time using the router. File format has nothing to do with your situation.

Check with microsoft support centre website for updates and on your requirement. I have seen similar problems solved there.
