Do I need softward to set this up on a new computer?

No you don't need software installation.
To connect to your wireless router, the router's wirelesssettings needs to be configured with the SSID, encryption etc. and also thewireless cards in all the laptops/computers needs to be configured with theserouter's wireless settings. Then the laptops/desktop computers can communicatewith your wireless router.
Connect a LAN cable from the Linksys to the LAN port on your computer.
Open a browser and enter the Linksys configuration URL
http://192.168.1.1
The default login = admin
The default PW = admin
You can protect your router by changing the default admin PW (write it down andput it in a safe place)
Go to the wireless configuration and set up the SSID and WPA or WPA2encryption.
Apply these settings to the wireless card in your laptop/computer.

After hp removed a virus from my laptop , they evidently misconfigured my wireless router and now want a huge charge to replace. I was told you could help me. I thought I had a disc, but I can't find it.

Go to the Linksys website and download the software/driver for this particular router. Install in your computer after downloading. Following the instructions on the prompts while installing.

I no longer have the driver software disc. How can I use the Wireless USB Adapter without it?

You can try this one:

You can use another computer to download the driver, put it on a USB thumbdrive or an external hard drive, then transfer it to your laptop for the installation.

You can connect your computer directly to a modem or router for internet access. Download the drivers from the Linksys website.

Click here for the download page. Don't forget to select the correct version.

Hope this helps! :D

I have 2 computers one hardwired from the router and a laptop running wirelessly. The hardwired computer is running fine, but the laptop keeps continuously connecting and disconnecting. How do i stop this?

WRT160N router has issues with the firmware.
Firmware is the software of the router. First upgrade the firmware of the router. Download the firmware of the router from www.linksys.com/download . Open the set up page of the router and upgrade the firmware.
Check if that solves your problem.
If you still face the same problem then reset the router and reconfigure the router.

No internet access with new Linksys wireless PCI Adapter

Don .bin is a firmware that can upload to the linksys router or any router.

So it seems that your unable to connect wirelessly using the linksys adapter? The Internet connection before is working properly?

*I might advise you to reinstall the driver of your wireless adapter using the latest driver that you can download in there support site.

- Check the Internet connection hardwired to the router if connection works it seems that problem is on the adapter.

you have to install the driver for it to work and i assume that is not the case as you have no cd. Go here to download the driver. http://www.linksys.com/servlet/Satellite?c=L_Download_C2&childpagename=US%2FLayout&cid=1115417109934&packedargs=sku%3D1134691790190&pagename=Linksys%2FCommon%2FVisitorWrapper&lid=0993490190B03 When installed go to the properties of your adapter in network connections, then click on tcp/ip line and then properties and ensure obtain ip address automatically is ticked and press ok. You may also have to use the home network connection wizard if you havent previously to share documents over your network.
