Haven't used my Haier dvd portable player for a few years. Adapter will no stay connected when inserted to the input unless held in place. Not sure if the battery is charging but the player works perf

from description - socket dried out and need most probably touch of solder, remove the cover and slightly squash outer cover then touch with soldering irron to the base, it will re-establish connection, same on other side of the board with centre. if not or not inclined to open the caboodle, slightly bent centre point to held the plug in the spot (do not broke it!!! be gentle!).

if this was ni-cd battery (very, very old models), you can revive it, if this was lithium - you are due for new one...

hope this little suggestion will work for you - do not forget to vote...

The player will not charge anymore. The charge light won't stay on.

It is more than likely the rechargeable battery is exhausted and must be replaced.

Batery wont charge

This is one of two things.

a) if the portable wont turn on at all then your plug-in is damaged.

b) If it powers on with external power but will not charge the battery, then the battery must be replaced.

Rechargeable lithium batteries have a half-life of about three years. That means half of the capacity is gone is three years - another quarter in another three years. Replacement batteries can be found online. Even if your battery is not that old, this is the most likely reason for short run-life.
It is often possible to get the chemicals in the battery refilled by an online vendor. This is not only cheaper and makes the battery, literally "better than new", but is also easier on the environment.

if it isnt more than 1 year old wal mart will exchange it. if they wont the connection in the unit might have come loose from the board if so you can have it soldered back onto the board. or you might have to replace the the plug in in the unit.
