Cant see the picture good because the red blue yellow dots shine

i have an older projection tv and the red yellow and blue dots are showing through.projection dots i believe also believe i''m missing a filter screen on front over picture does this cut those dots out? if so where can i find this or something that will work.asked around found nothing.
