Question about Fahrenheat FBE15002 Baseboard Heater

1 Answer

Electric baseboard heater

Just bought today a Fahrenheat electric baseboard F25408 heater and there are no instructions in the box. I need to know how to install - I am replacing an old heater. I also purchased a Fahrenheat double pole thermostat (built-in line voltage) so I need to connect this also. I have a red and a black wire available and need to know how the thermostat and the home wiring attach.

Re: Electric baseboard heater

You need a meter, it will be hard without this! If you have 220v in the wall, then think of it like this; each wire is 120v. Test to each other, you get 220v. The thermostat is a double pole, you said. So think of it like this, its an adjustable temperature controlled switch that lets electricity through at the temp. you set it at. If you have 120v from one wire connected to one end of the element, and the other 120v connected to the other end of the element, then it will work. DO NOT CONNECT THE 120V TOGETHER. IT MUST GO THROUGH THE ELEMENT FIRST. The thermostat should be between the power from the wall and the element, to control the temperature.

I have some confusion about what you are asking......

There is no such thing as "Hydronic Electric Baseboards"......

I am assuming you are referring to the oil filled baseboard heaters. If so....

The same amount of btu's required to heat a space remain the same whether the elements heat a liquid to warm the air or whether they heat the air directly, the same amount of wattage will be consumed. So, their is no more or less efficiency between the two.

If you are referring to "Hydronic Baseboard Heaters" (these baseboards are fed from a boiler with a pump) Then....I will assume that it is a gas boiler. In which case, the gas boiler would be more cost efficient to operate. If it is an electric the same rule applies as above......the cost is the same.

Fahrenheat electric baseboard heaters are not safe for children

A few companies sell child-proof covers that prevent little fingers and small objects from getting into the radiators. Try searching Child-safe baseboard heater covers in a google search or we use them in daycare centers.

How do I wire up my fahrenheat F25408 baseboar heater?

Baseboard heaters are easy to hitch up. You can have a wall mounted thermostat or an integral thermostat. The diagram I have is for the integral thermostat. Follow the diagram and it should work.
