Re: I/O error

There will be more than one connecter on the motherboard that the hd can be connected to. Older boards have 2 ide channels but as urs ins new it will be sata and have at least four of them :)

Re: I/O error

Try changing the cables and also a diff channel on motherboard. Failing that try the hd in a diff pc to see if its faulty.

No all cds/dvd work in all cd/dvd drives. I suspect your drive cannot read that make of cd although anothers cd rom can. Try making a copy of the disk on someone elses pc and try that in yours and you will probably find it works. You could always copy the cd to a pen drive and install it on yours from that.

I am getting the following error message with the Seagate GoFlex 2TB wxternal hard drive after it fell a short distance10 inches. my computer recognizes it and i can see all the files but cannot access...

Open up a command prompt with the command Windows key+R or go to Start>Run...> and type the command "cmd" and press Enter. At the command prompt window, type the following command:

"chkdsk X: /f" Where "X" is the drive letter of your external device. This command will scan your drive for any virtual errors that may have occurred, and attempt to fix them. If this does not solve your issue, it is best to call Seagate for a replacement of some kind

I cleaned my ibm thinkpad R40 motherboard and reassembled but on powering it gives an error message "system tempered with" and requests for a password that i don't know. pleASE HE MAC addr...

These laptops usually have a switch that is activated when the cover is opened and thus the message. Would suggest talking to IBM support for a master password, that will help you thru and get the same cleared.

All the lights come on when I switch on my HP Pavillion dv9600 but the screen is blank.

DO THIS FIRST - Perform a hard reset If a PC suddenly fails to boot properly, you should perform a hard reset as the first procedure.
  1. Disconnect all peripheral devices and remove all USB devices and media cards. You want to test the computer not the accessories!
  2. Disconnect the AC power adapter, remove the battery, and then press and hold the power button for at least 15 seconds .
  3. Reconnect the AC power adapter (but do not connect the battery), Press the Power button, Look for glowing LEDs near caps lock and num lock keys, and Listen for sounds of a disk drive and fan turning.
Actions to take after performing hard reset If no error message is displayed:

If a text error message is displayed, see Troubleshooting Error Messages on a Black Screen During Startup or Boot c02076104.jpg

Black Screen with No Error Messages Connect an external monitor c02076105.gif If there is a problem with the LCD display's back light or a corrupted graphics driver, the display may appear blank but the notebook may be displaying information. Attach an external monitor to test the display. If the image displays on the external monitor, there may be a graphics driver conflict. To resolve this, turn on the computer and press f8 key, then select Enable low-resolution video . If the image displays on the LCD display in low resolution, you can download and install the latest drivers for your specific graphics driver. If there is an image on the external monitor but the notebook display remains black, contact HP for technical assistance. Disconnect all peripherals and repeat the hard reset Even though users are instructed to disconnect all peripheral devices from the notebook when doing a hard reset , some devices are often overlooked. c02069237.gif Double-check that all devices are disconnected including: external keyboard and mouse (wired or wireless), USB connected external drives and devices, thumb drives and flash drives, network storage devices, PC card, SD memory cards, express card, eSata connections, firewire or similar devices, printer, scanner, camera, port replicator, or docking station, any CD/DVD from the optical disc drive, and any media from the multi-card reader.B

I can't install windows xp in my computer. It has AMD processor with Gigabyte mother board. After the confirmation screen when I press F8 my pc displays the following error message:...

STOP 0xC2 means:

A kernel-mode process or driver incorrectly attempted to perform memory operations. Typically, a faulty driver or buggy software causes this.

STOP 0x43 means:
A disk device driver called the I/O system to change a partition type on a specified partition, but the partition does not exist.

(The last 3 numbers are parameters for the previous request)

When i start computer first i see bios. and after bios computer says that it has system failur

If you receive the message "Error loading operating system" and before Windows was running normally, you can try to reinstall your OS with the repair option (if you can't access your hard drive then it's hdd failure). If your message appears before boot media is accessed, I would recommend you to reset BIOS settings by following the steps below:44a6f3c.jpg

Bios not loading when hitting DEL

Have you tried using a PS/2 keyboard? Or the other way around, a USB keyboard.

Additionally you can try doing a reset on the motherboard by temporarily relocating the jumper on the CMOS reset pins (JP1 close to the Lithium battery) from 2-3 to 1-2 for a couple of seconds then back. Normally, once performed, the motherboard on the next boot will revert to default and auto request a CMOS setup. Alternately you can also temporarily remove the battery for about 15 minutes.

If the USB and/or PS/2 KB nor the CMOS reset does not allow you to enter the BIOS setup, perhaps you need to return the board for replacement since this is indicative of MB failure.

Hope this be of help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need further information.

Good luck and kind regards.
