Probleme convert vhs movies into dvd

hi

i have a CITECH combo DVD recorder with vhs , it records most dvd into vhs but i would like to no please hoe to convert vhs movies into dvd with my Citech combo dvd recorder with vhs in it to ... the serial number of my CITECH DVD combo recorder and VHS is :60107606) i tray to put a blank dvd rom into the dvd and played the vhs movie and press record but it did not work .... my CITECH dvd combo recorder with VHS has an output of S video but i do not have the cabel for that is that ehy it is not working ??? if yes when i purchase the S video cabel what should i do ??? some one told me that it should go to Svideo out to S video in but where out and where in ??? is that that put the first cabel in the dvd combo player with vhs and then the second one to the television ??? please help me please
