We have a digital hinote VP notebook running on Windows 98 that has been freezing on shutdown. The F8 button has initially fixed this, allowing us to reboot using DOS but it has now locked up.
The screen is frozen on shutdown and the menu panel alongside is showing a padlock. The F8 button no longer has any effect.
Can you help us please??
did you try removing the battery?
in worst case, you will have to open the laptop carefully and you should find a lithium battery inside, disconnect it to reset for a few minutes, reconnect.
