Question about Vivitar MAGNACAM Binocular

1 Answer

Can't download photos. Computer goes into safe mode.

I connected my binocs to the USB cable. When I click on "My Camera" my computer goes into Safe mode and a window pops up and says that there is nothing in the camera. I have made 3 photos and the binoc screen shows I have 17 remaining. Why can't it find the photos? I am beginning to get the impression that Vivitar has created a piece of junk and not giving decent instructions and troubleshooting solutions in their short-on-info operations manual.

Y my key board & mouse dont work wen i open my cpu

Make sure you have them in the correct ports in the back of the computer. If the end that goes into the back of the computer is round then you have PS2 serial type keyboard and mouse. If it is flat you have usb type mouse and keyboard. If it is round, the keyboard goes into the purple colored port and the mouse goes into the green port. If you put them in or remove them while the computer is on you will have to reboot the computer. They are not plug and play like the usb types.

If they still don't work try booting up in Safe Mode.

Turn off the computer, then hit the power button to turn it back on and immediately start hitting the F8 key repeatedly until you see SAFE MODE. Take the Safe Mode option and let it boot up. Safe Mode will look different to you, the screen will be darker and the icons bigger, this is normal. If the work in Safe Mode then you probably have a virus or infection that has hijacked the keyboard.

Take the steps above to reboot in Safe Mode, but this time when the safe mode options appear, select Safe Mode With Networking option (this will give you internet connectivity). Open your internet browser when it finishes booting up and download and install MalwareBytes.

Go to www.google.com and in the search box type: "Download cnet Malwarebytes" (without the quotes). Download and install malwarebytes from the sites download.cnet/malwarebytes. When the site opens up click on the Green Download button on the left. Do not click the Red Download button, that's junk. When it finishes installing the Gui Interface will open up with an offer to Accept a Trial Version or Decline. CLICK DECLINE you want the totally free version. Run a QUICK SCAN. As it scans, if it finds infections the number will be in red. When it finishes scanning, click SHOW RESULTS. A notepad text document will open up showing you the results. You can close the text document and go back to the Gui Interface where you will click REMOVE SELECTED RESULTS. The objects will already be selected for you. When it finishes removing the objects click ok and it will sometimes reboot your machine.

When I connect my USB cabel to my PC it will not open the photos on the card. I get a message at the bottom right saying that it is safe to Dissconnect The USB Cable. My computer used to open normally, but...

Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program, such as Picasa ( http://picasa.google.com ).

Try dkelly2671's suggestions first to ensure that you don't have an issue with your USB connection or current software installation. Also, make sure that your USB cable is ok (use another one, or if you have a digital camera, try downloading some pictures to your computer - they generally use the same kind of cable). If you still are not getting anywhere, you can try putting the remote in "Safe Mode" and doing a Firmware Update. To do this, launch the Logitech Remote software on your computer and click on "Downloads" (on the top menu bar). Then, take the battery out of your remote and at the same time you connect the USB cable to your remote (it should be already connected on the computer end)press and hold down the Off button at the top of the remote. This will put the remote in "safe mode". Continue to hold down the Off button until you see the message "safe mode requested" on the remote's screen and the screen starts blinking. Once you see this, you can release the Off button. Now, go back to your computer and click on "Firmware". If the software is able to communicate with the remote, an update to the remote's firmware should be executed. Good luck!

My remote has a mind of its own. buttons wont respond. remote will operate on its own.

Wow! Sounds haunted! Seriously though, if your remote is behaving erratically the best thing to try first is a complete re-programming including a firmware update. To stack the deck in your favor, I would even put the remote in 'safe mode' and then do the updates. Here's how:

Launch the Logitech Remote software on your computer and click on "Downloads" (on the top menu bar). Then, take the battery out of your remote and at the same time you connect the USB cable to your remote (it should be already connected on the computer end) press and hold down the Off button at the top of the remote. This will put the remote in "safe mode". Continue to hold down the Off button until you see the message "safe mode requested" on the remote's screen and the screen starts blinking. Release the Off button and go back to your computer and click on "Firmware". An update to the remote's firmware should be executed. Then, you should be prompted to update the remote with your device/activity configuration. If all goes well, this may solve your problems. Good luck!

Harmony 880 remote wont conect with computer

A communication problem can be caused by a variety of issues, both hardware and software related, so this can be difficult to debug. First, make sure that you have the latest software installed and that the installation is successful. Next, make sure that the USB cable and the USB port on your computer are good. Try to upload some pictures from a digital camera, etc. They generally use the same kind of cable. If the software is ok and the USB cable/port is ok, it's time to turn off any virus software, firewalls, etc. Now you should try to connect. If the software still does not detect the remote, you can try putting the remote into 'safe mode' and then try establishing a connection to upgrade the remote's firmware. Here's how you do that:

Launch the Logitech Remote software on your computer and click on "Downloads" (on the top menu bar). Then, take the battery out of your remote and at the same time you connect the USB cable to your remote (it should be already connected on the computer end) press and hold down the Off button at the top of the remote. This will put the remote in "safe mode". Continue to hold down the Off button until you see the message "safe mode requested" on the remote's screen and the screen starts blinking. Release the Off button. Now, go back to your computer and click on "Firmware". If the software is able to communicate with the remote, an update to the remote's firmware should be executed. If this step is successful, you will be prompted to update your remote with your personal configuration (your device and activity profile). I hope this works out for you!

6. Connect the PC to the camera with the USB cable.
  • Downloading stored images
You can download the still images stored on the camera to your PC's hard disk and print them or use a photo editing software to edit them.
1. Connect the camera to your PC with the USB cable.
2. On your computer's desktop display, select 'My Computer' and double click 'Removable Disk' - 'DCIM' - '100SSCAM'.

Are you connecting your phone as a Mass Storage Device?

  1. From the home screen, attach one end of the Motorola Original Enhanced USB cable to your phone and the other end to a USB port on your computer.
  2. On your phone, press Yes to use the phone as a portable USB storage device.
Note: When connected as a storage device the phone cannot perform regular phone activities. Disconnect to resume normal operation.
  3. On the PC, open the My Computer window and find where your phone displays as a Mass Storage icon.
Double click the Mass Storage Device icon.
  4. Drag and drop files between your computer and phone.
  5. When finished, remove the phone safely from your computer. Right click the "Safely Remove Hardware"
icon at the bottom of your computer screen, then select "USB Mass Storage Device" and click Stop.
  6. Select USB Mass Storage Device and click OK.
Now it is safe to disconnect the cable. When the cable is disconnected, the phone restarts
