Our cd changer has begun making loud static type noise when you first turn it on. It disappears after unit has warmed up. Why? Any fix you know of?

Static problem

You can try a laser cleaning kit to see if that will help, generally when the laser gets to that point it is time to replace the laser pickup assembly or just replace the whole unit due to cost over runs in repair.

I hooked up my Sony cdx m-600, all works fine but radio does not work. at all. Why?

make sure the unit is hooked to the antenna correctly. This unit will not play the radio and will disable the static noise on the radio. So ensure the antenna is properly hooked in. For more info on how to use the deck click here for the manual. got this directly off sony's website for model cdx m-600. So let me know if that it is properly hooked up and we can figure out where to go from there.

Loud static noise without warning

The audio may be randomly disconnecting or something. I know that when my TV has no signal coming in, that it makes a bunch of loud static.

Jvc xl-f254 cd changer for home. 5 disc changer. Carousel will not slide out. makes humming noise, possibly trying to open.

Take the cover off and inspect for a jammed disc.

If there are no jammed discs you either have a broken belt or stripped gear.

You will have to take the unit apart and inspect, belts are commercially available from electronic stores and are a cheap easy fix!

Let me know if you need more details or guidance.

Cheers!

I have the same problem error 4 in my lexus rx330 please help me

I just left the Lexus dealership w/ my ES 330 (my changer reads "Error 3" upon starting my car, it also makes a loud ticking noise); go figure, the mechanic/technician there informed me that I need another motor for my disk changer - Merry Christmas and hello $675!

After turning your car off for about an hour or so, the cd player is supposed to reset itself enabling you to retrieve your cd's. Attribute this to having utilized burned cd's.

My XL-MP130 stereo makes a racket...

What your machine is doing is... whenever the unit is powered on or off the cd player resets itself and the clanking you hear is the cd changer resetting itself.  The plastic trays of the cd player are driven by plastic gears.  These gears are noisy when new, after a few years, they can make quite a clanking noise.  Most cd changers of this age have similar mechanisms and this type of noise is inherent in their operation.      I'm afraid the only solution is to replace the unit.  Opening the unit to lubricate the gears may cause more problems than it may solve, so I would not recommend it.
