ok this will be a little long and drawn out becaus i will be going over a bunch of stuff but this will be the only way to change the password unless you just reset your router and then you will have no password just to clarify you need your network key and not your password to access your routers web based utilities if you only need the routers password then reset the router to do this look on the back of the router there should be a small button some where hiding take a paper clip or something small and pres the button for about five seconds and walla reset to factory settings if you need your network key to get other computer on wifi then do this
First you will have to acces your router to do this make sure you have a computer pluged into one of the router LAN ports if you dont have the poper cord you will need to purchase one cat5 with RJ45 conections on both ends looks like the one pluged into your router that goes to your modem
second you will need to open up internet explorer
To access the web-based utility, launch the web browser on
your computer, and enter the Router’s default IP address,
192.168.1.1, in the
Address field. Then, press
Enter.
A login screen will appear. (Non-Windows XP users will
see a similar screen.) Leave the
User name field blank. The
first time you open the Web-based utility, use the default
password
admin. (You can set a new password from the
Administration tab’s
Management screen.) Click
OK to
continue.
if the admin password dosn't work you will have to reset your router just follow the steps in the begining
ok now your looking at the web-based utility
to change your wireless network key click on the wireless tab
and in the sub tabs you should see wireless security click that this is where you will setup your new password it should give you an area to type whatever password you want and save settings depending on what type of encryption your router is set on there may be a couple of other steps here is a link to your routers manuel look under chapter 3 in wireless wireless security hope this helps
