Very vague problem description.

Considering the most common cases occuring widely,...

1. Has this started recently, after u have tested any bizare regfix tools?

2. Is ur PC a old model one which doesn't support very much graphics, and have u been playing hard core 3dfx games on it?

3. Is any program running with more than 50% processor utilisation?

4. Are ur motherboard cables connected correctly, especially ur fan power connection?

5. Are ur CPU fan and chassis fan running OK? (try some self tests from bios or some tools for the same purpose)

6. Is ur power cable having any loose contact?

7. Are u now aware of ur problem now?

What programs should I shut down to optimize performance?

I'm not sure what programs your currently running, but a pretty safe bet is to disable any programs that run on start-up. You an do this by clicking on Start, then type in MSCONFIG and press enter.

Click on the Startup Tab on the top right, and uncheck any programs you don't need running all the time. Once you're done, click OK.

You will be prompted to restart your PC, restart if your ready, or click "Exit Without Restarting" and restart your PC whenever you're ready.

My pc restart after every boot once then there is no restart problem as long as the pc is on for the .entire day

Could be a small crack or dry joint or faulty component on the motherboard or in the power supply.
To explain what happens is when you first start your pc everything on the board is cold and discharged. So when you switch it on for the first time some components get charged up and the tracks heat up which cause the metal to expand which inturn creates contact.

Then with second start your everyting is connected which cause the pc to start up normally

Most of these type of problems will get worst during winter time

My PC won't start? every time i start it the fan just spins fast and loud and nothing happens, the screen doesn't show. this happened when i took the PC apart. it a Compaq presario sr1610nx

Initially test the monitor in another pc, if display available use the monitor in Compaq presario sr1610nx. Load to BIOS by restarting and tapping F1, if the display available, the computer is ok. restart and tap F8, if the advanced boot option screen comes up, the software is ok.
Restart the computer and tap F10 and proceed with a destructive recovery to reload the operating system on the computer

I cannot uninstall antivir on my computer how do i do it!

Hi, you can remove Norton by following ways:
First: you can try to use the Norton Removal Tool provided by Symentec:

Second: If you want to remove it manually try the below steps:

go to Start --> Control Panel --> Add/Remove Programs.

Scroll down to your Norton program

Click Change --> Remove All.

You will be asked to restart your PC. Please restart the computer.

After restart go to Start --> My Computer --> Program Files. Right click on each Symantec folder and select Delete.

While you are in Program Files go to the Common Files folder at or near the top of the Program Files window. Delete every Symantec folder there. And, again, restart your PC.

Go to Start --> Search --> All Files and Folders --> More Advanced Options. Check each option except for "Case sensitive"

Now type in Norton and delete each Norton folder from the search results (Again, right click, choose "Delete"). One more time, restart your PC.

Pc restarts

You have to give your PC time to start-up.. When you first log in to windows, your PC is starting multiple applications that take up memory and processor usage. These programs run in the background after they have been started. So while they are starting and killing your memory and processor, you try and load a game that wants to use all that processor and memory..but it is already getting used by your start-up applications. So your PC is 'overloaded', usually this only makes your PC slow, very slow, for a period of time until those programs are no longer using up resources.

My suggestion... wait a few minutes after you turn it on, before playing a game.... or get more memory and/or a faster processor...

or you could stop some of those app's from running at startup... but giving it a few minutes to 'start-up' is the best solution.

I updated windows automatic updates and it kept telling me to restart the computer so i postponed it for 4 hours. i then left the computer not shutting it down correctly. now windows will not start...

Turn on PC or restart it if it is running and keep pressing F8 during restart.

On screen that will appear choose to start it in "Safe Mode"

When it starts go to Start - Accessories - System tools - System restore - Restore my computer to an earlier time - choose restore point before the date and time when update was done.

Restoring can take a lot of time so be patient even if you think that progress bar is stuck it is still working. Make sure you choose the restore point older than update time.
