55H70 model uses two of the STK-392-110 CONVERGENCE IC CHIPS.
If red is skewed and will not adjust you need to replace both chips and any of the protect resistors around them that are gone---Most of the time just the two chips need to be replaced.
You can buy a pair of the chips on Ebay for less than 12 dollars plus shipping----
The chips are black in color--2 1/2 wide X 1 1/2 tall with 18 pins each and are mounted on large metal heat sinks side by side----THEY WILL HAVE THE STK-392-110 PRINTED ON THE FRONT OF THEM IN WHITE.
The question is are you able to do this yourself? If you can you can save the set and a lot of money--most shops are going to charge 300 or more for this kind of repair---IT SHOULD BE FIXABLE IN YOUR HOME.
I HAVE repaired hundreds of these sets--just got back home from doing a Panasonic that uses the exact same parts your set uses.
The chips fail because a white grease to quickly transfer heat from them to the heat sinks dries out after time and one of the chips goes.
Let me know if you need more directions--the hard part of this repair is getting at the chips and the ability to unsolder and replace them.
TOTAL PARTS COST SHOULD BE UNDER 25 DOLLARS.

- THEY ARE GOING TO BE LOCATED EITHER ON THE BOARD (AS YOU LOOK FROM THE BACK) ON THE FAR LEFT FACING FORWARD or THE NASTY VERSION HAS THEM ALMOST DEAD CENTER IN THE SET ON TWO LARGE HEAT SINKS,,,
IF YOU HAVE NEVER SOLDERED I AM NOT SURE THIS IS A JOB FOR YOU---IF THEY ARE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE BOARDS---CABLES HAVE TO BE UNPLUGGED TO GET THE ENTIRE CHASSIS FREE AND UP SO THE BOTTOM OF THE BOARDS FACE THE BACK OF THE SET!
UNLESS IT IS THE VERSION WITH THEM ON THE FAR LEFT BOARD---THE HARD PART WILL BE GETTING AT THEM.
What you need:
TWO STK-392-110 CHIPS (I CAN TELL YOU BEST PLACE TO BUY THEM)
A good soldering Iron.
Solder (RADIO SHACK ETC)
Liquid solder flux (RADIO SHACK?)
A desoldering braid or wick (RADIO SHACK?)
Some acetone or denatured alcohol to clean the board after they are removed.
HEAT SINK COMPOUND---a white grease to apply to the back of each chip before you install it.
If you cannot do it see if any of your friends can or know someone who can.
I don't have your email but if I did and you sent me a few photos of the inside I could tell you how hard a job you have----RULES HERE DO NOT ALLOW ME TO POST MY EMAIL ADDRESS..............................
