Just quit working

The TV was on and just quit working. It started clicking from inside and will not turn on. Now when I try to turn it on, it just clicks 3 times and stops. Is it worth trying to repair?

Also have the popping sound. Removed the back case and found the popping noise and flash is coming from area between the circuit board and screen. (It looks like a tube)

The Flyback transformer has shorted out. A replacement is about $85 plus labor to install it.

I have an Onkyo TS-DS939 receiver which worked for quit a while and then would not put out any sound when turned on. I would switch from TV to radio sources and after maybe 20 minutes it would start to...

Since the unit eventually works as expected, I would first look for poor solder connections inside the unit. It is quite possible that hte prolonged storage has damaged a few connections. If you can solder, try looking at the solder connections and resolder any that appear grainy or have rings. Update this if that does not resolve the problem and we'll look further.

When the set is turned on there is a clicking sound then it dies

I am assuming this is an old CRT TV.

In CRT TV's the tube needs quite a high voltage around 30,000 volts. This is generated in the set. When you turn the TV on it is possible you hear the high voltage arcking. This happens if there is dust and dampness. You may see specs of light on the screen when this happens. You could try cleaning the inside.

Clicking from inside the TV. sounds like its going to explode.

That is one or more of the capacitors shorting and discharging. Turn the TV off and take it in to be repaired. If you let it continue to do this it will eventually destory the television.

Turn signals have quit working

Many times the turning signals will quit because a bulb has gone out. Have the bulbs checked first.

Remove the starter & inspect the contacts inside the starter solenoid housing. If they are burnt and/or worn, you will get this condition. Replace the contacts and the plunger, or replace the starter. I change contacts in my shop 3-4 times a week. Quite a common failure. The clicking noise is the plunger hitting one contact, but not the other, due to wear.

First of all greetings from Belize mike your set is an old set but you can still get some life out of it please be inform that going into a tv could cause you self injury if you are not qualified to handle an electronics set.the problem with your set is in the power supply there is a 10mf cap situated in the power supply just close a transistor replace it along with power requlator and associated diodes.that will solve your problem.but make checks in the power supply.if you cannot do it yourself take the set to tech.good luck.
