How do I fix the "infinite loop" which occurs when I try to download the software for Microsoft Lifecam 2.0?
My operating system is Windows XP with Service Pack 3.

- Nothing proposed so far has worked.

- I downloaded Lifecam 3.0; but when I tried to install it, it brings up the Lifecam setup. This, in turn, starts downloading files from the Net thus reproducing the "infinite loop" problem.

- I use the Firefox browser. It doesn't make any difference.

- I tried the Microsoft analyser, but all it did was try to scan for security updates at Microsoft, an action which proved futile because nothing was detected or downloaded after an hour or so. Unless I did something wrong ( a distinct possibility), this would appear to be another Microsoft program which doesn't work.
In any case, my computer is set to "automatic update" and has already downloaded the necessary updates.

- Suggestion given: "Your software used to download is not working."
I should not have scorned your advice in this instance. I did take the Micro. Life Cam VX_2000 back and exchanged it for Micro. Life Cam VX-5000; but then I found that ( presumably) I need not have done so. When I opened the package and found the software was Lifecam 2.0, I was more than a little angry. However, a call to the shop elicited the info that I should just ignore the supplied software and go to the Microsoft website and download the latest version. Since this turned out to be the 3.0 version which I had already downloaded, I thought I would try installing it with Internet Explorer 7. Voila! It worked! Obviously Firefox was in some way incompatible. The odd thing is that I thought I had tried IE 7 before to install the Lifecam 3.0 software, but maybe I didn't. Anyway, many thanks for your suggestion which, when followed exactly, worked.
When you download a software, please first choose to save it on the computer in a folder, so after you have choose download, choose save. Other possibility is to use a different browser ex Firefox, you can get it here : http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/
Hope it helps IF NOT THEN return here Have a nice day
- I did use the "Microsoft Baseline Security Analyzer" yesterday and I mean it did not take more than 15 min on a 30 GB computer with the drive that is around 70 GB with xp home fully updated, 3200 MHZ cpu, 1 GB RAM.

- As far I can see, It can bee 2 thing :
1. The software you use to download the file is not working 2. you have a virus on the computer
Hello. I found a link for Lifecam 3.0: http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/download/download.aspx?category=ICE Select "Webcams", your product, Windows XP 32-bit, and language. Save the file first to your desktop and then install. Hope that the later version of the software will process successfully.

When making video calls, the person I am calling can't see me. The box that is supposed to display my picture is showing a red x. I have no problem seeing the other persons picture. If I go into the webcam program, the cam is working properly. I have a picture!! Why won't it work in the messenger?
