If your system is set up for surround and you dont have a center speaker that will happen.
Check the manual for best setup

do you have a center channel speaker hooked up? Most dialogue in movies should come from the center channel.

When playing a movie, everything sounds great until the actor sound very low or as if it were muted?

Your unidentified electronics probably has a manual that explains how the center channel functions and how to test and calibrate all of the speakers BEFORE you assess overall sound.

Your unidentified source may also be responsible for the missing dialog.

My Son down loaded a Movie from his Laptop and played it on the OLIN DVD player The downloaded movie from the USB movie had nod Voice there was sound from background music but no speaking sound now the DVD...

Hi, and yes I would agree with you that there is one channel not getting decoded. The likely problem is a setting in the menu of the dvd player under " AUDIO SETTINGS " . It may take a couple of trials and errors to get it back to where it was before ( just because we aren't sure what the original setting was )I would suggest that you make sure the " DIGITAL OUT " is set to " PCM " versus " LPCM " because this being improperly set can mess up your surround sound. Also there mar be settings for " DOWNMIX " labeled " LT/RT-STEREO and a couple others whose names escape me at the moment. Changing one or more of these will almost assuredly get you back on track. Good luck and thanks for choosing FixYa. I hope this helps, Prodzilla

I can hear music and background noises but no talking when I play a DVD.

Hi, What you are encountering is your receivers playback of a Dolby digital signal with out the proper amount of speakers attached. When using a 5.1 or higher system you must have at least 5 speakers connected. You need front left & right main speakers, then you need a center channel for the voices to play thru. then you want left & right rear speakers for the surround effect. It is possible though to do without these, you just switch the receivers sound field mode from theatre or movie to stereo. I hope this helps, write back to let us know if we did or if we can be of more help and thanks for choosing FixYa,good luck Prodzilla

Did you use Midi files when creating the Sound Track? If so your encoder may not have had the software to translate the Midi to the Mpeg2 sound track. Will it play back on other devices or just the Yamaha?
