- I am not getting a BSOD, there is nothing wrong with the hard drive booting sector as far as i can tell, i think it is a motherboard problem... the power indicator will just turn orange, and the monitor goes into power save mode. at first i thought it was a power source failure, so i replaced the current power source with on from another pc that i know works fine, with no change.

- The fan is working, i do know this, everything remains on. Just the power LED turns orange, as if it goes into hibernation mode, unable to return...

Possibly overheating, or you have a BSOD. Try repeatedly pressing F8 while booting, and, if it will let you, boot into safe-mode or disable automatic restart on system failure and if it DOES give you a BSOD, write down the number's shown, and post here. If it won't let you do that, it's more likely overheating. Probably due to dust or a failed fan. I will try my best. Pete.

I would make sure the CPU fan is working. Your processor will burn out very quickly without airflow and will automatically shut down.

- OK - the CPU fan stays on. That is very good. Now you might try to jumper your board to reset the BIOS. There is a 3 pin jumper. It should now be set to normal ( 1-2 ) to reset BIOS set jumper to (2-3 ). You may have to look this up in your manual or look around where the nickel shaped battery is placed on you board. You will see some jumpers here and with a magnifier it will be printed CLR and NRL or some such. When you reset your bios, you will have to reset time of day and date. I hope this fixes it. It sometimes does.
