Loads CDs but doesn't play

My Sony CDX-T69 6-disc auto-changer doesn't play! Error code E5 reported.
Sounds as if each CD is loaded but gets no further, so player goes through each disc in turn then reports no CD. Taken player out & unplugged it a number of times but no difference. Loads cartridge with CDs no problem....
Anybody any suggestions on solving this?

I have the same problem with Sony's 10 disc changer. I hvae a cdx A-89? and a later version both of which were installed in two seperate BMWs. Initially the CDX-A80 intermittantly displayed an error message on one CD and would'nt play it although it would play all the other CDs. Then one day it suddenly wouldn't play any of the CDs. I tried changing magazines, changing CDs and finally changing the changer all with the same result!!!! Still have no idea what happened!
