My friend owns a joybook R53U with windows xp installed her computer froze and she switched off manually instead of shutting it down properly. now it turns on gets to the safe mode options part then loops back and restarts and does the same thing any idea how i may assist her

Hmmmm....
Looping restarts are a pain, mainly because you cannot see the error code associated with them. I am going to assume it is a generic driver error (error code 0x00000007E). That is a generic driver issue. If you cannot start in safe mode, then you likely have a bad memory chip or a hardware device going bad (probably the video chip). Get the diagnostics discs and run some tests on the hardware and memory. IF your hardware passes the diagnostics, then the OS could have a faulty driver. If thats the case, you may need to reinstall. But, before you go that far, try replacing the memory chips.
