The thermistor on the lamp housing has failed, it is used to report the temp of the lamp during operation, The only way to replace it is to remove the optics engine and replace the part. Look for a two wire connector coming from the lamp housing assembly. On this model the thermistor is out of date and needs to be replaced with a newer type. You can jumper the termistor with aligator clips but you risk the unit not shuting down if temp gets to high. I dont recommend u do this but is is an option for you, if no other problems with temp has ever occured before. This will at least let you watch the television normally until the part is replaced. But just because this will work do not you do not need to replace this part ok. Also replace you lamp at this time also..

We had a problem with heavy candle soot throughout our house several weeks ago. The picture on our Sony Grand WEGA is extremely (and I do mean extremely) dark. My thinking is the soot was probably pulled inside the TV and on the inside of the screen. Is there any way to clean the inside of the screen? I would appreciate any help you can give me. My picture quality is so dark to even watch.

My Sony Grand Wega kf50we610 takes like 10 times to try to power on before it actually turns on and works. What could the problem be? It's not the lamp because that is replaced. It will click like it wants to turn on but goes back to blinking red. It will finally turn on after many tries but I'm sure it won't be long before that doesn't work either. :( Any help would be appreciated.
