Spin the fan by hand and see if that helps. The condensor fan is causing head pressure to rise and the compressor is fighting it. This in turn will affect the cooling effiviency.Vacuum the cobwebs and dirt that has accumulated and vacumm the fan motor yhrough the vent holes on its end opposit the blades. Spin the fan blades with a pencil to protect your fingers. If the fan still won't turn, it may need to be replaced Good Luck_Ned_

First, I think it’s important to know that the Ref side has no cooling coils, it’s basically a box and the cold air in the freezer is blown over by a fan through a channel into the Ref side. This channel has a door which regulates how much cold air goes through. You probably have two control knobs in the Ref side, one controls the temp with numbers 1-9, 9 being the coldest. This temp control tells the compressor how long to run. The other control is for that little door and it may have letters A-E, E being the coldest. If you set it on E (coldest) then this will close that little door and keep most the cold air in the freezer.

Now, why is that cold air not getting over to the Ref side?
1. The little door is not open.
check your control setting. You can't see the door but, you should be able to feel air coming through the channel on the Ref side.

2. The fan in the freezer is not working.
You can hear this fan running when you open the freezer.

3. The coils on the freezer side are clogged with ice which won't let the fan circulate the air over to the Ref side.
This is a failure of the defrost system which consist of the defrost timer, heater, and thermo disc.

Also, If you replaced the evaporator fan then you got a good look at the cooling coils. Look at these coils while it is running. There should be a light coat of frost on all the coils. If this frost line is only 3/4 or 1/2 or any amount less than full coverage of the coils then the system has a coolant leak.

Directly under these coils is the drain pan and drain hole in the middle. This area should be clear of any ice or debris.

Condenser Coils are Dirty
If the refrigerator is not cold enough the condenser coils may be dirty. The condenser is like a radiator and must stay clean in order to dissipate the heat which was removed from the inside of the refrigerator. As the coils get dirtier the refrigerator becomes less efficient, which makes it work harder to cool down. If the coils are dirty enough, the unit will never be cold enough and will not be able to cool the inside of the refrigerator to the proper temperature.
Evaporator Fan Motor
If the refrigerator is not cold enough, the evaporator fan motor might have failed. Every refrigerator has a set of coils called an evaporator. The refrigerator may have one or more evaporator fan motor(s) depending on the model and evaporator locations. The evaporator fan motor circulates the cold air from the coils thru the compartment. It provides power to the run winding along with the start winding for a split second at start-up to help get the compressor started. Temperature Control Thermostat
If the refrigerator does not get cold enough the temperature control thermostat might be defective. The thermostat allows power to flow through to the compressor, evaporator fan and condenser fan. Condenser fan problem on Kitchenaide Refrigerator - kscs23inss01

What you are going to find is this... Your COILS under the Plastic are Condensating and FREEZING and then this is what is causing the On /Off of the Temp. You have to DEFROST the COILS (Under the Plastic) and remove ALL the ice and Moisture. Once you get this problem resolved, it will work perfectly. This problem was caused by the Condenser Coils being Dirty and and the Switch on Top, Under the Plastic from being unable to work properly. This is a time consuming issue but easy to do. DO NOT SCRAP or BREAK the ICE after you take the Plastic off, use a hair dryer or Hot Water and make sure the Drain Tube is completely cleaned...

Where is it frosting, condenser or evaporator? If you mean frosting on evaporator line to compressor, probably iced up evaporator. If you mean frosting after condenser by capillary, unit short of gas/ blocked.

The door frame of the refrigerator gets way too hot. the lady said it burnt her finger it was so hot. its a maytag msb2354grq

It's usually caused by the condenser fan which is underneath around back. If it's not running when the compressor runs it will cause the problem you describe. You will need to remove the cardboard backing on the back of the fridge to access the fan.

The panel separating my side by side refrigerator from the freezer is hot - nearly to the point of burning. Kenmore model 10653606202

  1. check if the evaporator fan motor is running (inside the freezer)
  2. Same for the condenser fan motor on the bottom in the back of the fridge
  3. Clean condenser coils underneath or in the back of the fridge
  4. if there is a frost on the back wall in freezer - you've got the defrost problem, check defrost heater, defrost bimetal thermostat, and defrost timer

Freezer meltdown. coil is dirty and I am in the process of cleaning. Compressor is hot to touch. all fans are working

Yes compressors do get hot it's normal. If your coils are dirty and covered with dust it will cause your compressor to run excessively as your unit cannot dissipate and get rid of its heat, also causes your compressor to work very heard, increases pressure as well - you will reduce the life cycle of your compressor this way. Get those condensers cleaned up, if they are at the bottom, you should have a fan next to the compressor, (condenser fan).

If after checking door gaskets, condensers, evaporator fan, and over frost problems / defrost then you might be low on charge and will need to have it checked by a qualified service person.

Lights on Freezer and Fridge not working

5 reasons for fridge and/or freezer getting warm: 1- the evaporator coils are icing up and won?t let air circulate. 2- the evaporator fan is not working to circulate air. 3- there is no refrigerant in the system. 4- no power to fridge or compressor. 5- the condenser coils have no air circulation check under the fridge behind the vent. if it is too dusty or the fan isn?t working, it is not getting enough airflow to cool down. replace fan and/or vacuum out the dust. if there is no power to the fridge, the light will be off. if the compressor is not running, there is a defrost timer that cuts the power temporarily to the compressor to melt ice on the coils. it?s located under the fridge behind the bottom vent. If the timer is off and the compressor is not going, the compressor or the main board is bad and needs replacing. there is also a temperature sensor on the evaporator coils that tells the defrost coil to turn on and when to turn off. if the defrost timer is on but the coil is not heating up, replace the sensor. if it still won?t heat up, it?s the timer or the coil. the easiest way to tell if there is no refrigerant- the freezer wall is warm and the compressor is loud. if there is no refrigerant, it may be more cost effective to replace the fridge. if you feel no air coming from the freezer vent, the fan needs replacing. If you feel air moving in the freezer but not the fridge, the channel from freezer to fridge is blocked. if the freezer has air and the rear freezer wall has frost on it, the evaporator coils are iced up and need defrosting. causes: 1. low refrigerant 2. no fan 3. too much humid air in fridge/freezer due to door open or bad door seals 4. the condensate drain tube is clogged if the seal around the door is ripped or not completely sealing, or there is condensation at the bottom or the walls of the fridge, replace the seal(s). no air, no fan. Replace if the refrigerant is low, it just needs a top off. but you need to be certified by the epa to move refrigerant, so get a professional. defrost solutions: unplug the fridge. remove the wall of the freezer that is frosted/icing up. use a hair dryer to melt the ice. do not get too close. you will see a drain under the evaporator coil. make sure it is not blocked. the water should run freely to a condensate pan under the fridge that evaporates the condensation with the hot line from the compressor. once the coil is free of ice, frost, and water, replace the panel and repair any of the problems that caused the icing up. plug the fridge in and turn it on. If it frosts up within a week, there is still an issue that not been taken care of.

Whirlpool refrigerator side by side door seal very hot

when you said fans working....does it include the condenser fan? or it may have two evaporator fans..

if condenser fan is working, then it is just normal. if the compressor is running, that part would really heat up. and if it is too hot, then the condenser fan could probably not running.

its not constant because the compressor cuts off when ever the thermostat cuts off.

The small copper line should not be really hot its supposed to be carrying liquid refrigerant which has already had the heat "pressed" out of it by the compressor and carried of by the air flowing over the condenser coil. This could indicate a few things; that your unit is overcharged, you have a mismatched evaporator coil and condenser, an ineffective condenser fan motor or a clogged condenser coil and as a result your compressor is shutting of due to an overload condition from the building heat and back pressure between the compressor outlet and the evaporator inlet.

First make sure your condenser is clean and that adequate air is flowing over the fins of the condenser coil. Then be sure your equipment is a matched system. A indication that your condenser fan motor is not at speed is slow starting a humming sound and excessive heat. In my experience this complaint is generally the result of a bad condenser fan motor that over heats and shuts of after a short period and the build up of heat in the liquid refrigerant line of course trips the compressor overload circuit- which by the way usually takes hours to reset. I hope you've already resolved this, but in case you haven't......
