I was watching a game and just lost all power. Now it won't even power back up. In the bottom right corner there is a green light that turns straight to red and you get no sound or picture. Can anyone help?

If it blinks 6 times, it's supposed to be your thermal fuse that needs to be replaced. I have my TV taken apart waiting the for the part to come in.

How many times does the light blink red? It should blink so many times then stop then blink again. What's the sequence? This will help me determin where the problem is.

The green light at the bottom right hand corner turns on but there is no sound and picture. Sanyo won't help, what can I do?

I see so many here with no sound/nopicture issues:

1. IF sound main fuse/s are good.
2. If no power or standby check main fuse, standby power supply and any signsof damage you can see---burnt parts etc.
3. almost all these sets the troubleshooting involves checking voltages on the main power board to narrow down theproblem.
4. Be safe and if you do not know what you are doing don't open the set.

Answers to issues:

1. RE:fuses---if a blown fuse is found get a good replacement(not the genericones like Radio Shack). Many fuses are special even aside from amperage--Don'tput a higher rated amperage fuse in the set for any reason.

2. RE: power supply in set: if total dead aside from main fuse the set uses astandby power supply that runs 7/24 and a main supply (some are combined andsome not.

Here aside from checking fuses you want to examine all the filter caps on thepower/standby to see if any are puffed up or buldged up in some fashion--Iattach a photo of a good one---top should be silver metal and PERFECTLY flatand have no brown material coming out on top or bottom.

What happens in the standby area is they use caps with too low a voltage rating(saves money) which causes them to fail in a year or two---the standby runs7/24 and the heat dries out the caps and they fail.

3. Trouble shooting consists of the above and then at some point you have to buyand try a board to see if it fixes it or not.

4. Safety first--no TV set is worth getting injured or even killed over.If set is opened at least look for puffed up and bad caps like in thisphoto.5_31_2012_3_03_14_pm.jpg5_31_2012_3_03_35_pm.jpg

I have an Akai PDP5016H television recently it will not power on , I have to push power button several times before it comes on , no picture and no sound , Occasional lly it will stay on with the AKAI ...

There's a good chance you have failing electrolytic capacitors either in the power section or the inverter section or both.
Any caps in these sections that look bulged at the top, or bulged/leaking at the bottom need to be replaced, and in your case you may need to look very closely. Caps that go in these situations are often grouped in pairs or fours.
If you repeatedly turn it off and on, eventually it'll probably stay on, but every time you turn it off, the TV will get harder and harder to start up until one day it just won't.
Sometimes you have to do the opposite to start it up and unplug it for some time and then try again.

If you aren't tech savvy, don't worry, read the rest of this solution and watch the videos.

If you are handy with a soldering iron and can identify the power supply and inverter / FM section for the backlights, an inexpensive handful of capacitors will likely fix you right up.
Match the capacitance on the capacitors. Go over voltage if you can, and still have them fit.
IE - it's not a bad idea to replace a 10V cap with a 16V or 25V or even a 50V, but don't replace a 680uF cap with a 500uF or a 1000uF (unless you are positive it's only doing ripple filtering, and even then, you should go OVER, not under the uF rating).

Most of the caps that go are 10V 1000uF or 3300uF.

I found some great videos of the procedure (for many Samsungs with the same issue) on youtube.

As you can see, this issue spans plasma TVs, as well as large and small LCD TVs and monitors.
The parts are cheap, and skill required is minimal.

The television was not on but was plugged in when we lost power in our neighborhood not from weather but from a transformer going out or a car wreck. Since power was off we decided to go to bed. The power...

More than likely, the power supply has blown capacitors in it. If you feel comfortable, you may search for a power supply module for it at & attempt replaceing it yourself, OR, I would submit a claim with your homeowners insurance as power surge damage(provided your deductible is not so high that it isn't worth it) Some electronics are more sensative than others & that is why the LG got it, but everything else is fine. I have been a TV tech for over 25 yrs. & have seen it happen more than once....good luck...hope this helps! Regards, Ross

No picture but sound

do any lights come on with the TV?, like white vizio or orange vizio light. sounds like a problem with the power board. some vizio parts have lifetime warranties so contact vizio support and report your problem. if it is covered the service call is free. there is a green led light on the power board that should come on, if it is not on, you may have a bad power board. to see this light on the power board, turn off the lights in the room and view the tv from the back cover, power board is 3/4 way toward top in the middle of the tv

My widescreen tv...

I purchased a 32" ilo widescreen back in Oct. of 06. It worked great for about a month before I had similar problems as you're having. Suddenly my remote wouldn't work (except the power button) and none of the buttons on the TV itself would work (except the power button). I was able to watch movies but unable to switch the video over to TV mode. Very frustrating. The Walmart in my area wouldn't take the TV back. The only way I was able to get it fixed was by sending it to ILO's service center. (800) 216-5156. Fortunately less than three months had passed since my purchase plus I still had my receipt. Because of this they were willing to fix the problem free of charge. If more than three months have passed I believe they charge for labor costs but not for parts. Once I sent my TV out ILO had it fixed and back to me within three weeks. Luckily I had another TV around while I waited. I hope this helps.
