When I hook the router up, it does not allow me to get online via laptop. But when I disconnect it and use my normal interent on my desktop, it's as fast as ever. Sometimes, I can catch the router working for about 10 minutes or so, then it will stop working and the interent light disappears on the router. It's not the interent itself unless its a cord, but I am unsure.

1. Try a different brand or model router
2. Try a different cable
3. Sometimes the internet modem needs updated firmware. Explain what happens to your internet provider and see if they will provide an updated modem or setting changes to prevent dropping the connection.
