Try cleaning the laser lense inside the UMD compartment. Take the battery out, make sure it is unplugged, then take a Q-tip and rubbing alcohol and clean the lense. Make sure not to use too much alcohol and allow a few minutes to dry before inserting battery. I hope this helps. Good luck!
