I have just bought a hp notebook new notebook and my disk that goes to my hp printer will not download on windows vista

I assume you mean you are trying to install the printer software and drivers. It is possible that the version you have does not work with vista. Go to www.hp.com and click on support and drivers. Then type in your printer model and follow the prompts to see if they have a version for vista. Vista may also have the microsoft version drivers for your printer internally, did you check?
