Is the microphone live? If so, what you're getting is called "acoustic feedback". Any room sound gets in the mic, gets amplified, comes out the speakers, and then gets picked up by the mic again. Louder and louder until you get to the maximum your system can do.
The solution is to turn it down. . . until it stops.
I notice that some of my cell phone wall chargers make a high pitched ringing sound, not that loud though. I think cheaper internal electrical components are the culprit. (Opinion)

I was going to suggest the low voltage transformer, but when you said it sounded like it was coming from the left side, that seemed odd.
I have a stock transformer here I keep for test that is loud, but it works. Odd, eh?
By high-pitched, you mean it is not that same frequency as when it's cooking?
Is the tone near or the same as the beep you hear when you press a key?
