IIf the system will play regular cd's and regular movies(non blueray) the problem is the blueray portion of the laser assy. If it won't read anything, you probably have a bad laser assy all together. Either way, you will have to replace the whole laser carriage assy. I think they go for about $70 on ebay. Fairly technical fix if you want to do it yourself. If not, find a local PS3 repairman to perform the work. Good luck!
