Re: Recevier,8 track casset tape

Hi, I'm looking at the schematic and service manual for the Fisher 177. Each speaker must be connected between the "Main" and "Common" terminal for sound to come out of the speakers, there is a Main, Common and Remote terminal for both left and right speakers, for a total of 8 speaker terminals. These will be separate screw or push-in terminals, NOT standard RCA jacks. Try the AM radio first, since this is the part that will probably still be working if the tape machine and turntable have failed. The Power switch must be set to either "Main" or "Main and Remote" for the speakers to work. If still no sound, rip that selector switch back and forth several times to clean the internal contacts, also try the headphone jack. If still no output, "exercise" all controls back and forth several times to clean them as well. If still no luck, your unit needs service. I can scan you a copy of the service manual for $20 if needed (sorry, I'm in the business and have to charge something). Good luck! And yes, I take in repair work from all over the country - my flat rate to fully repair that unit would be $200 plus return shipping. My website is No phone calls accepted, but the website does have my e-mail address.

I'm considering this model,it has a 30 day warranty.Does it have terminals for 2 pairs of speakers and how many external devices can be hooked up?Thanks.

Looks like the inputs are as follows: Tape 1, Tape 2, Aux/video, CD, Phono, Tuner. So, 4 line level inputs and a phonograph input.

It only supports 1 set of speakers.

Looking for operating manual for Fisher MC-3000... i was able to only find a service manual. please advise for where I can dowloading the owners manual, thanks!

I found one on Ebay for $5 and suggest that as the easiest. If you can find a "scanned" version online, the quality of the scan may make it useless. Also, these receivers were pretty standard back in the day so a model number similar to the MC-3000 will likely have the same info you need.

Maybe if you SET it up right you might not need to REset it.

Find the manual and carefully evaluate every indicator on the face to make sure you understand what they mean and how they might affect operations. Look for Speakers NOT enabled, Muting ON, a Tape or other input inadvertantly selected. If you fail to find the errant setting, treat it like a new install and set it up all over again according to the manual.

I have a denon DP-7F direct table (1989)ust wondering about the point of the arm the head of the cartridge housing is very close to the record any way to get that adjusted higher?

If the tonearm balance and tracking force for your cartridge are adjusted correctly, ignore it.

Eeeww, page 8 says the counterweight snaps on and the tracking force is factory set. Any self-repecting turntable should have precise manual balance and tracking adjustments. Or your counterweight is not on? Either way, I'd look seriously at getting the stylus checked for excessive wear if it's tracking too heavily. The manual says 500 hours of normal use. You'll be carving up your recordings.

I have an onkyo reciver and 7.1 speaker system. The powered sub-woofer keeps timing out and when I run the automatic speaker test on the reciever, it does not see the sub-woofer. I checked the reciver...

I assume you mean the subwoofer remains silent during the test. Perhaps the subwoofer is where we should be looking.

If you jack it into one or both of the Tape Out connectors and play some music with substantial low bass, does it make any sound? This would at least prove it is alive.

1 - As you already have it, take it out of the box and look at the back. You should be able to determine the connections from there. It is also in the owners manual.

2 - The receiver only supports 6 and 8 ohm speakers. Do not use 3 ohm speakers with it.

3 - The Yamaha website has instructions on how to check the firmware version and instruction on how to upgrade the firmware.

I just read over the problem you were having with your Onkyo TX-SR500 receiver. It sound like the unit needs to be setup for all five channels.Sence your symptom says the diplay shows Dolby D3/2.1. According to the owners manual with the remote control look for speaker setup whin the button is pressed the current speaker setup will be shown in the display. Press the preset/adjustment<> to change the current setting to five speakers. the listening mode will automatically change according to the number of channels you selected. Hope this helps. Only 2 channels working

If your new reciver does not have a turntable input, you can purchase a phono preamp and simply plug the turntable into the preamp and the output of the preamp to an aux or tape input of the new reciver. they should have it or be able to get it at radio shack. Or look up online or build one as I had to do as im a cheap skate, but I know what I have now..Check this out. i included the preamp i built so i can still use my collection of vinal with my surround sound system. Good luck and please dont forget to rate this thread.
