Re: windows 98se to windows vista

In addition to above, you could get an external hard drive, they are not expensive anymore and have loads of capacity ( 250Gb to 500 Gb ) this would enable you to dump entire contents of your hard drive as a backup !

I want to save intallation and install it to another computer

If you still have youir Vista license key and it is retail (not OEM), then you will be able to transfer your installation intact. Use windows vista system (not file) backup to a portable HDD. Also make a rescue disk. Then boot to the rescue disk on the other computer and follow the prompts to recover the main backup you made. You will need your license key to activate the new Vista. You may need to tell Microsoft that your old computer is no longer working to transfer the license. If the old license was OEM, you can't move the license (it is for the life of the original computer/motherboard only), and you will have to buy a Windows 8.1 pro license and migrate your data instead. I have done that from windows Vista 32 bit to Windows 7 64 bit. I used all different types of backups (including Mig, vista file backups, copy my whole profile) and carefully put it all back together. Let me know if you want more help with anything specific.

Ive just bought a new windows 7 home premium laptop. The problem is that when I do a word document and I save it and put it on my USB, I put it in my windows vista laptop because it is connected to a...

I think this has nothing to do with the Operating System (Windows 7 or Vista). The issue may be because of the different versions of MS Office. As regards, MS Office 2007 files can be opened normally with Office 2007. However, if you wish to open Office 2007 files with Office 2003, you have to install MS Office compatibility Pack, which can be downloaded from Microsoft site.

Let me know if any further clarification/ assistance is required.

Hope it helps! Good Luck!

Dear Friend
I will rather suggest you for the LAN instead of data transfer cable. By using LAN you can share Data, Documents, pictures, printers, faxes, and storage devices at High Speed.

How do you import windows live mail from xp to windows 7 on another pc

Elaborate a little more .You can transfer mails from outlook to windows live xp .Follow the steps given below.
  1. The folder that contains the Outlook Express messages is marked as a hidden folder in Windows. To view this hidden folder, click Start, and then click Control Panel. Click Appearance and Themes, and then click Folder Options. Click the View tab, and under Hidden files and folders, click Show hidden files and folders.
  2. Locate the folder named Outlook Express. In Windows XP, this folder is located here by default: C:Documents and Settingsyour user nameLocal SettingsApplication DataIdentities{your Windows user identity number}MicrosoftOutlook Express.
  3. Copy the Outlook Express folder and all its contents to the Documents folder on the computer running Windows Vista.(You can store this copy of the Outlook Express folder in a locationother than the Documents folder, as long as you remember where to findit.)
