Intermittent sound I gave my son the logitech quickcam communicate stx so we can keep in touch using Skype. He sees and hears me fine. (I have a Mac and use the internal camera and microphone)  I see him fine but his sound comes to me intermittently. It seems to be a regular pattern of sound/no sound. What are some things he should check in order to troubleshoot?

It's the others person's camera that is possibly configured wrong and they need to make sure that it works correctly. Good luck

If you have problems when you use your Logitech device in Skype, you may have to configure the audio and video setting in Skype. To do this, follow these steps:

How do you get the audio, headphones or speakers? if it's the speakers go into the control panel under sounds or audio, bring up the audio panel and see if you either muted or mistakenlly turned down the volume, that is done quite often by hitting that little speaker in the system tray, look there first. If you are recieving audio thru the headphones or the device itself check the cable they get dirty and sometimes just turning and pushing it in and out will fix the issue

If you still cannot see or hear the other person, it can be due to a variety of possible issues, including:

• Windows or third-party firewalls
• Your internet service provider (AT&T, Comcast, etc) could be blocking certain services.
• Missing Windows system components.

You would be surprised at how many people don't realize that each application has it's own configuration screen.

It's not the end-users fault - like you said... the instructions could be a BIT more clear.

Hi, I found the solution to make Logitech Quickcam Communicate STX works perfectly with my imac G5 10.3.9. First I download macam and next I down load hacktvcarbon or icamshare type of program(there are many of them, some are free some are not). After that, it can record both vedio and audio. Took me couple hours but very happy! Now it works with Skype and also work as recroder. Thanks to macam support feedback! Here is the link that help me through.

What program are you using to video ith your Father? There is usually a test mode which helps with setup problems.
